Community Choir
Cheep Trill is an exciting, joyful, and colourful community choir based in Brisbane/Meanjin, Australia founded by Emma Dean, supported by Tony Dean and managed by Corinne Buzianczuk in 2014.
The choir is open and welcome to anyone, of any ability, above the age of 14, who is interested in group singing and being a part of their very own community. No experience necessary! We learn and perform all sorts of music with a strong emphasis on contemporary vocal arrangements and mashups written by Emma.
Since our inception, we’ve performed at The Laneway Festival Brisbane, The Empire Theatre Toowoomba, The Southport Community Centre for Coast To Coast Animal Rescue, Brisbane Powerhouse, Eat Street Markets, Concert Hall QPAC, Breweries around Brisbane, Ruckus Slam at The New Globe Theatre, Vulcana Women’s Circus, Velvet Helmet, Brisbane Festival and even on stage with Darren Middleton (Powderfinger), Katie Noonan and Karin Schaupp!
In 2017 we accompanied John Farnham, Katie Noonan, Kate Ceberano, Clare Bowditch, Deborah Conway, Isaiah and Hannah Macklin and even featured on the SONY charity single of You’re The Voice, raising money for DV Connect.
In 2018 we performed as part of the Commonwealth Games' Festival 2018, took part in our very first Anywhere Theatre Festival Show, and raised money for the Daniel Morcombe foundation at the Mitchelton Jan Powers Farmer’s Markets.
In 2019, we performed our first international shows as part of the Cork International Choral Festival in Ireland where we won the PEACE award for the choir who most embodied the spirit of the festival.
In 2020, Covid hit. We pivoted (hardcore!) and created an epic online experience, Computer Choir. Remarkably 2020 also saw us performing with Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band) as part of Queensland Music Festival’s Help Is On Its Way project, which used his powerful song as a way of opening up a dialogue about mental illness particularly with our men and boys. We even performed Space Oddity by David Bowie in Queen St Mall, alongside vocalist Alison St Ledger, members of Electric Moon collective and the Camerata ensemble, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing. And to top it off, we released our very first music video, ‘Giants Of The Sky’, written by some of our very own choir members at a songwriting workshop we hosted.
In 2021 we filmed another music video with over 600 participants at Brisbane Riverstage with Queensland Music Festival featuring Emma Dean singing Vanessa Amorosi’s hit, ‘Absolutely Everybody’.
In 2022, we flash mobbed local breweries, and celebrated with our choristers; and over 2023 and 2024 we continued the fun, expanding our repertoire and performance experience. We’ve also celebrated our founder Emma Dean, who won Queensland’s first 40under40 awards and the Outstanding Young Griffith Alumni Awards for Arts, Education and Law. Cheep Trill received an honourable mention for both awards.
2025 sees us putting on our biggest show yet - ‘Community Choir - The Musical’ a heartwarming and hilarious show where a quirky community choir finds itself thrust into the spotlight when they're accidentally invited to compete in Sydney's prestigious National Choral Competition. We will be performing four shows at the Thomas Dixon Centre in West End, Brisbane this September!
We’d love to sing with you! More details below...
